Taiwan stocks higher at close of trade; Taiwan Weighted up 0.63%

Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Biotech & Medical Care, Semiconductor and Optoelectronic sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.63%.

The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Aurotek Corp (TW:6215), which rose 9.92% or 6.40 points to trade at 70.90 at the close. Meanwhile, Farglory Land Development Co Ltd (TW:5522) added 9.88% or 6.80 points to end at 75.60 and Powertech Industrial Co Ltd (TW:3296) was up 9.87% or 3.40 points to 37.85 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Zero One Technology Co Ltd (TW:3029), which fell 9.94% or 17.00 points to trade at 154.00 at the close. Lead Data Inc (TW:2443) declined 9.85% or 0.39 points to end at 3.57 and Arima Communications Corp (TW:8101) was down 9.84% or 2.40 points to 22.00.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 0 to 0.

Shares in Aurotek Corp (TW:6215) rose to all time highs; rising 9.92% or 6.40 to 70.90. Shares in Powertech Industrial Co Ltd (TW:3296) rose to 5-year highs; rising 9.87% or 3.40 to 37.85.

Crude oil for January delivery was up 0.09% or 0.06 to $70.08 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 0.01% or 0.01 to hit $73.42 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract fell 0.02% or 0.41 to trade at $2,708.99 a troy ounce.

USD/TWD was down 0.15% to 32.49, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.27% to 0.22.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.12% at 106.77.
